Engineered for Density and Reliability

Advances in computing technology require higher power and cooling densities in data centre facilities. Many data centres are only capable of delivering up to 2kW per rack, leading to constraints on new technology uptake and higher dispersion of equipment across a larger, more costly footprint.  The new Options West London data centre offers power and cooling scalable from 2kW to 30kW per cabinet and thereby facilitates modern server and storage technologies and footprint savings.

Traditionally data centres have offered N+1 redundancy on power with individual cabinets consuming from only one UPS and/or power distribution board at a time.  While this may have been sufficient for some purposes in the past, today’s business-critical enterprise technologies require a greater degree of power diversity and redundancy. The Options West London data centre has been designed from inception for totally independent 2N power to every cabinet, with each individual cabinet power circuit having a duplicate coming from an entirely separate power distribution unit, separate UPS, and separate LV switchgear, to ensure optimal up-time, serviceability, data security, and peace of mind.

Grid power is supplied via on-site sub-stations and HV transformers feeding independent banks of LV distribution and generator integration.  Mains supply is backed by on-site diesel power generation with multi-day autonomy.  Geographical location, procedural testing and preventative maintenance, and diesel supply channels contribute to providing total independence from mains supply for sustained periods where required.
